What Is Thermal Pollution
Thermal pollution is when water or air has been degraded from any process that changes the temperature. Basically it is when water and air that we take to make energy and has been heated greater then its previouse temperature. as we return the heated water and air to its natural environment it heats up the surounding. This in result causes a disruption to the natural water temperature and effects the animal life as well as the plant life. The major sources of thermal pollution is from electric power plants or nuclear power plants.
The common factors that result to thermal pollution in the ocean is usually caused by power plant's thermal heat that raises the temperature in streams, rivers, lakes and ocean waters. Heated water may seem harmless, however the animl life and plant life can only adapt to a certain range in temperature. Certain creatures such as rooted plants or selfish can only tolerate so much. In this case since the creatures cannot move nor adapt to the temperature change they will die.
The main sources of thermal pollution is from elctrical power plants, or industrial factories. The heat they produce is when coal, oil, or natural gas is burned. This heat is soon turned into steam which then becomes water. The heated water will then be returned to were it has been obtained. Thermal pollution can also occur in the air. Factory steam or polluted air that is released in the atmposhpere heats up the area.
This pollution is caused by heat, returning water at a temperature that the environment cannot endure. A solution is that you must allow the water to cool down to a acceptable temperature. the released water would have no effect on the environments temperature.
